Seriously folks?
Come on now... this is the internet. As long as the Copy, Paste and "Save As" functions still work on computers people are going to take posted or downloaded things and do whatever the hell they want with them. For the authorities to actually enforce online copyrights is going to take millions of man-hours and billions of dollars, it's not even realistic. The "law" may be on the books, but if you look at it realistically it is unenforceable.
And yes... if we can no longer post links to sites that host copyrighted materials then why are the YOUTUBE posts still allowed? By sheer volume they have more copyrighted files on their site than anywhere else on the internet.
If we are going to be fair, let's be fair. Any site can potentially host copyrighted material. Are the mods going to go through every site and manually check it for that one copyrighted file?
NO
Then either allow links to all sites to be posted or don't allow links to be posted at all. Bunch of hypocrites.
Saying "Youtube is OK but Netporn is bad." Creates a double standard and undermines everything you think you stand for.
