question about tampons

Is it possible to pee for a girl with a tampon in? And how exactly do you remove them? I think there's like a string or something. What if the string breaks? Then is it stuck? Sorry, but I'm just asking, and since I'm a guy, I really wouldn't know the answers to these seemingly obvious questions.
