When you think about it, you pee in the toilet and gotta flush several gallons of highly purified drinking water to dispose of a few ounces of urine (or else stink up the house if you don't flush). Pee in the sink, run a little water to wash it through the trap, and you're done.
Better make sure to wash it through the trap though, or else it will stink. Also, urinary salts can be pretty corrosive, need to get them outta your trap especially if it is a metal one.
