Ha ha, erm yes I have an interest in both worlds. I am a very big fan, and occasional producer of, "Dalek music". In fact it's much more appealing to me than Mr Gallagher's tedious brand of "Tardis music" (i.e. stuck in a timewarp).
I can see the connection, for me both worlds are about a kind of deliberate innocence, which is a strange paradox and probably what intrigues to me about both. There might even be some kind of Zen Buddhist thing going on, an acknowledgement that childish innocence is one of the highest, purest states of consciousness possible.
Last time I went raving and dropped a pill I was very turned on about wetting and seriously considered staging a public accident. Ironically, the ecstasy made me feel more empathy towards everyone around me and it was only out of respect for their sensibilities that I held back. Well empathy and also the fact that E makes it damn hard to pee! Had I not been buzzing I might well have just wet myself and thought to hell with the consequences.
Fashionwise I'm really not into any kind of rave fashion. It's all about the music rather then the clothes. Likewise, I'm not remotely interested in stereotypical AB fashion. For both scenes it's all about a feeling, an emotion, a state of mind rather than superficial clothing accessories. But then, if other people like the accessories then good luck to 'em. For me though it's about escapism, release, extremity, and breaking the chains of constricted "adult" behaviour.
There is actually a record label in the UK called Raver Baby set up by the hardcore DJ Hixxy(www.raverbaby.co.uk). But I don't think he's an AB for a minute!
