Start up a new email address. It won't be on anyone's spam list. So, the magic trick is staying off everyone's spam list.
Don't ever post your email address perfectly. You should always mess it up in a way the humans can fix. If you are Bob@hotmail.com, tell people to email you at "Bob at hotmail.com" or "Bob@NOSPAM.hotmail.com".
Refuse to give your real email to people and websites that don't deserve it. Lot's of sites require you to register for no good reason. Register using a temporary email address. If you haven't developed an expectation of trust with a website or a person, don't give your real email.
Tell your Forward buddies to trim their emails. You've probably been on the receiving end of jokes that have been bounced around the internet about 3 thousand times. Notice how sometimes the email is 80% email addresses and 20% joke? What happens if one of the 100 people the email goes to works for a spam company? Free Goldmine for him! He just got a hundred active email addresses for free. Tell your friends to delete everything but the joke from forwarded emails.
