Disagree with Nohg. I hear two things in Kalorie's note:
1) Kalorie is becoming an adult in the true sense of the word -- he is discovering the necessary balance and tensions between work and play. To this I will add that the happiest of us learn to make as much of work into play as we can...for kalorie, perhaps writing history papers on the history of children's toys, and then finding a way to keep working on toys as an adult. Can't be more specific since I don't yet know his major; it actually sounds like it might be on the technical end.
2) The degrading voices/thoughts *do* indicate a problem. Mania? possibly, though I wouldn't use his high and low posting periods on here as indicative since there are lots of other things to preoccupy his time, including other AB/DL sites, and we know he has tried on multiple aliases for size. Depression? more likely, remembering the way the sudden, but welcome end of about four weeks pressure on the job hit me recently with tears and its own depression.
And yes, I would recommend Kalory have a word or two with the school counseling service about those degrading thoughts. When K starts looking for a partner or a job, they can cause very serious trouble. If they are at all professional, the AB/DL stuff of this board will excite curiosity, and then disappear.
Kalorie, if you want me to expand on this further, leave a note here and we will figure something out, but be prepared for some reponse delays -- I am myself quite busy, and don't get online every day.
