and what turns us on sexually is pretty close to hard-wired in the brain. The shrinks are pretty sure, for example, that sexual attraction given free choice (being straight or gay) is determined either in the womb or within the first two years of life. I think a lot of fetish stuff is associational -- the stuff that turns on is symbolic of some underlying thing that was really important but as a child.
At a guess (feel free to dispute), the hot, wet sensation of peeing (or just wearing diapers in the D/L case) got associated with lots of positive physical attention in the form of getting a diaper change. When we started doing potty for ourselves, that attention went away, nobody changed our diapers for us anymore.
I can say that at this point in my life (like jack benny, I've just celebrated a 39th birthday) the physical attention is much more important to my well-being than the direct sexual intercourse.
