I can second icupn's comment. There is a documentary movie that is showing in Austin, Texas, called "Hands on a Hardbody". It documents a contest held yearly (?) in an East Texas town where "everyone" owns a truck.
The contest is held by a local auto dealer who donates a "hardbody" (a brand name) truck. A dozen or so people are chosen by random drawing of those who have entered the contest. They must keep at least one hand on the truck all the time. The last one who is not disqualified or does not resign wins the truck.
There are five minute breaks every hour and fifteen minute breaks every six hours.
It is a grueling endurance contest that lasts upward of 80 hours.
It is a fascinating movie, but with no scenes of desperation.
