Winzip has inherent problems and oftent doesnt work even thought he fmags are ipped up with winzip, the DOS version is oftenthe only way to unzip the magazine.
They are only zipped up to prevent people opening the pdf file in their browser as the .pdf extention will only load the file into memmory on the computer and dispklay it in the browser if Adobe Acrobat plugins are installed ont he computer. When this happens it is not possible to save the mag to yoiur hard disk so it has to be downloaded again and again each time a person wants to view it.
So, as this doesnt happen as a zip file we zip then files up - it has nothing to do wioth saving space as the .pdf file is allreadsy highly compressed.
