Thongs as pertains to women's undergarments are underpants which consist of a more or less normally concealing front panel joined to a band which narrows in the crotch or gusset area to little more than a narrow, string-like strip of fabric in the buttocks region then flares in a sort of triangular pattern to rejoin the waistband.
Sort of like a g-string or t-back panty. Objective being to minimize panty lines showing through clothes. Also sexually arousing to some males of the species. I myself personally think "more is more" as pertains to women's underpants, preferring a full backed bikini or high cut or even full-cut brief if viewing a woman's backside. Thongs are, I believe, somewhat disappointing when wet as they have hardly any fabric to, indeed, become wet. This is, however, only the opinion of one man, and as a man, my experience with thong panties consists solely of a sympathetic (or at least like minded) girlfriend examining a picture of a Victoria's Secret model wearing such a pair of underpants and exclaiming,
"I spend half my life trying to keep my underwear from going there, and this underwear is supposed to be there..."
