Its difficult for a landlord to keep deposit monies. Not around here I 'll tell ya. My one son had an apartment with a gal and on leaving cleaned it up pretty good, and the guy tried to hang a lot of crap on them, all that was there upon moving in. Like carpets being dirty, holes in the wall, (yep same shit) and other mickey mouse stuff. Well, the kid got some spackling compound and fixed the holes, cleaned the carpet and so on. The amount was $300 in this case and the guy still was bitchin. l So they went to take the thing to court and all of a sudden he was willing to setttle for like $100, more or less "wear and tear" I guess and they got out. Its illegal to keep that money unless some really bad shit happened. Id take him to court, it costs like $25 or so, but you'd see how fast you get your money back. Good Idea, (hindsite) to take polorid pix of the place when you move in of defects and things they dont fix. Puts a stop to the bullshit. Ya, Id pee a bit more and maybe find a stray cat to lock in there after you leave-"gee, I never owned a cat"...Heheheheee
