Don't know about anybody else's army - it isn't a problem in the British forces. The need for a pee doesn't crop up as often as the need for a smoke, a beer, another cup of tea and a wad, a shag, or perhaps the opportunity to send a few of the enemy to their own particular/peculiar version of paradise, during which religious activity it is permitted to pee one pants out of respect for the enemy's religion. On the other hand, if the horse wants a pee, the cavalryman or officer ( they both ride horses but only one is a menace with a map ) is required to stand up in the stirrups to relieve the pressure on the horses lower back. Apparently they can't let go with somebody sitting in the saddle. Must try that myself next time Mistress Tally-ho saddles me up... see if she can keep her seat when my bladder kicks in...
