It's a fair point but I have just set up a hotmail account for this. It is a first point of contact. If the email address becomes bogged down with spam I will ditch it and create a new one.
Any genuine contacts can be given my new address. I think emails just feel easier and safer for first time contacts...especially for the more nervous or shy.
