I am not in a Daddy/LG relationship (I'm open to offers though)!! but I did post my thoughts on the ABDL list about family/friends etc.
I know a couple that I am very good friends with and they have a Daddy/LG relationship which crosses into Dom/sub activities also. She calls him Daddy in public and people don't seem to react at all to it. If you're not aware of the Daddy/LG aspect then it probably wouldn't mean much but if I heard a girl in the street say it to her partner, it would certainly get my attention. By the way, she sometimes calls him Master also, but not in public. I think that is more likley to get a reaction from the public.
