I want a pet hamster

I would really like a pet hamster but Australia does not alow it :( Aparently they are vermin in this country.
I have also asked daddy for a doggy but he thinks its not practicle right now.
What pets do you other LG's have and what makes a good pet for an LG (apart from Cats)?
