There is not a single reason why you should have changed anything about your post, felt embarrassed, or heeded any impulse to clarify a word in response to such unwarrented and offensive harassment.
The fools in the chorus interpreted your ISO as they wished, not as you wrote it. They responded based on their own preconceptions and insecurities, mistakenly insisting that your concept of class referred to the separation between the "little people" and the aristocracy, when, in fact, all you meant by that term was elegance - that you wanted to meet a man who exuded elegance or grace in manner and actions,
a quality that cannot be contrived with wealth (Donald Trump - Paris Hilton).
I am glad that some other Daddies also spoke up. All the better to convey to you that the angry mob misunderstood your intentions.
