I agree, LG "headspace"/mode/side is a a sort of lifestyle. It is something that is done for comfort, and hurts no one (so long as it is only with consenting adults).
As soon as it becomes sexual, with either the LG or the "Daddy" becomong arroused, then it moves into the world of fetish. For the most part fetishes are safe and fine.
I think you need to remember that your boyfriend is "vanilla"... you did say that in a post, right?
He may worry that "fetish" means you can only get turned on by some certain weird thing, in this case diapers and LG stuff. Whereas a "kink" is something thrown in to mix things up, like lingere or having sex in a public place.
