L.E.,
I understand why you're polling for interest, but I've always been of the belief that if you build it, they will come. That's how I started SIDNY. I picked a date and a place, and put some announcements up. I didn't ask if anyone else wanted to do it, I just did it. And although I might have been the only red-faced attendee at our first munch, I wasn't; we had 15 in attendance.
Look, when you poll people en masse for their interest, you're always going to receive the same five responses:
1. People interested in attending, and will do so
2. People interested in attending, but won't show up
3. People with questions -- good and bad
4. People who complain about the time/date/location
5. People who respond with a public "No" (as though the open invite was instead a personalized invitation requiring an RSVP) but provide every excuse known to man why they can't come.
These responses only muddy the waters L.E., which is why the question itself is unnecessary. Don't confuse your decision with others' responses. The question, "Is there any interest in such a gathering" will be answered at the gathering itself.
Email me at your convenience and we'll chat. I read your other post in response to Elise. She's a capable organizer, so you might want to solicit her help as well. As for your off-the-cuff response, "Let's meet on October 15th at Grand Central Terminal" -- I suggest you give your event a little more deliberation before picking a time and date. I can help you with those things.
