I am certainly of the "diaper training" persuasion.
The mixture of carrot and stick involved needs to suit the girl's taste and personality,but the goal should be her use of diapers,not her use of a toilet!
My nurturing side doesn't like to be resisted...I see my place as helping her overcome her inhibitions (even if with discipline) and embrace her ABgirl identity (with bottle,babytalk,and so forth).She should develop real need for diapers and consider herself the richer for having done so.Of course one needs a willing student!
Until she has learned not to control her wetting her accidents won't be real...
