I'm sure its strange to *some* but not for many of us. I love wearing diapers. Personally, I don't wear when I'm scening with my slave, because I like to give off a very stern, paternal image, but in truth, I'm just as much a sadistic Daddy whether I'm wearing a diaper or not. LOL.
For me, my appreciation of diapers helps me understand my slave's mindset. Again, that's not true for everyone -- nor need it be -- but I've found its an advantage for my play.
I know one Daddy who likes to take his wet diaper off and put it on his submissive. Other Daddies never wear diapers, nor care to. The variations of kink are what make for fun. If we all played the same way, wouldn't that be a terrible bore!
So no, its not strange. If you *feel* like a Daddy in your heart -- then you are. That's the sole criterion. If you feel like being a diapered Daddy, then that's perfect too. No one can ever tell you how to identify yourself, and as long as your kink involves some level of consent, then it can *never* be strange -- but can only be great. :)
