I disagree -- mostly. Yes, you're right, we all meet people without such precautions, but vanilla meetings aren't shrouded in secrecy like kinky meetings are. Let's keep a few things in mind:
1. For most of us, we don't tell our family, friends or co-workers (those who protect us most) about our kink or kink meetings.
2. Secret passions can sometimes cloud our better judgement -- particularly when we're so eager to express them.
3. And because so much about our kinks revolves around anonymity and secrecy (e.g. screen names, untrafficked forums, etc.), predators both hide and hunt within our ranks.
But yes, I agree with your concluding statement. We shouldn't *presume* kinky folk we meet are dangerous. Rather, we should take some small precautions to protect ourselves in the unlikely event that other person is dangerous. And using those 10 things Brian and I outlined can help maximize your protections.
