I know that I like to be a rambunxious (is that how it is spelled?) girl at times. I am not much into dresses or things like that unless I am younger in mood, then I like to feel very lilladylike. I notice that I am UBER TOMBOY when my feelings are hurt though. I guess when I feel angry at the world I like to be as boy-like as possible, because we all know that boys don't cry and don't care if someone doesn't like them. They can be cold to the world when they want to be and its not as scarey being a boy becasue they are fearless!
As for letting that little girl part of you out, just do it when you feel like it. I have little toys at my desk that are JUST MINE. 98% of my time I am a very serious professional woman, but while I am cruizing through email, or favorite websites I can pick up a slinky and absent mindedly play with it. Little toys that most people would never really think twice about - but they are just little ways that I can let the girl slip out in controlled snippets.
I like to color too, and you know what? Wal-Mart has shrinkie dinks, where you can trace your favorite picture, color it in and make decorations for yourself or others. I have a precious moments book that I love to color in. I traced one on the shrinkie-dink page and baked it and made myself a keychain out of it. Sometimes when things get rough I can just play with my keychain and smile to myself and think about the next thing that I wanna make.
There are also these toy cars called Phat Cars.. they are the COOLEST toy cars! They have neat racers and also an assortment of oldie cars. They are not like Matchbox cars though.. they are leet!
AND I have a Teddy too. He is very soft and sometimes I use him as my pillow and sleep on him all nite long.
So.. see.. you aren't alone. There are a lot of us out here. A lot like the same things you do, too. But, yeah... its kind of hard to let yourself wriggle into being comfortable with this part of you. Give yoruself time and patience though. It is worth it in the end, I hear.
