Sorry for your loss Lauren. I recently had to tell my girlfriend that things weren't going to work (she was too vanilla and wouldn't play at all). I think this is best looked at as two people who are not compatable. Don't get caught up on the issue of why you were not compatible. Rather, focus on the fact that it is happening all around you.
You should try to find a soul mate in life. I believe that most people aspire to this and yet so many give up and settle for less. Don't, you are young and have many good years in front of you. You will one day find the man of your dreams and he will bring you more joy in one day than this guy could in a year.
