How Have You Reconciled the Risk of Discovery?

First, my apologies if this has been a topic of previous discussion. If it has, will somebody please point my nose to it?

Here is the dilemma. I have a LG/AB friend that recently has had a “panic attack”, for lack of a better description, over the possibility of being discovered in the vanilla world and the implications it would have with career, family, etc. She is a wonderful woman and is absolutely wired as a little girl/ baby girl. I have NO doubts about this. A harmless incident happened last week that triggered this worst case scenario off in her head about how horrible it would be if her LG/AB life were discovered. She is now in the process of purging everything and trying to disconnect, hide and “forget” that this is a part of who she is. Anybody want to make bets on how successful that is going to be in the long run?

Selfishly, I hate it because I think that she is a fabulous lady and want to remain friends or more. But I really hate it for her because I have been there. I have had that gnawing fear of “being discovered by the vanilla world” as a Daddy, years ago, and know how real and consuming that fear is. I would suspect that almost everyone else in this community has had to wrestle with the issue of “discovery” at some point and arrest it with something that works for them.

So, all of that leads to the following question and topic. Any LG’s, AB girls or Daddies out there have any insight, stories or experience as to how they handled this issue? Maybe another way of asking is how did you ultimately get comfortable with the concept that you can be an LG/AB in private, be discreet and be whatever you wanted to be in the vanilla world without discovery? Hope that the topic makes sense. I appreciate any and all replies.
