The way I used to make diapers, before I got the courage to buy them, was to take a plastic grocery bag, cut the sides and the top of the loops. Then I'd lay it out flat, spread out a bunch of layers of paper towels on it and then put it on and tie it on the sides using the ends of the cut loops. Then just tuck it in around the legs and waist. They hold pretty much anything, and are pretty easy to change. And they sound very diaperish.
