Well I have certainly felt shame at having a diaper fetish at times and I have also dreaded anyone finding out and being ridiculed or if I told a boyfriend rejected. While I'm not ashamed of it I don't present my daddy as "daddy" to the world, he is presented as my significant other. I am afraid that people would think it was some kind of paedophilia -related thing. Also he is somewhat older than me and that raises enough eyebrows to start with.
Sexual deviancy has such sinister connotations but really all it means is the "standard deviation" from the average. Average is only a statistical concept anyway - take the idea that in the UK the avaerage family has 2.5 children - do we actually see any half kids running around or women who are perpetually 4.5 months pregnant? Certain practices do have to be made taboo to keep society functioning smoothly, however even which practices are taboo vary between eras of time and by society - acceptance of homosexuality or polygamy are good examples.
When I first began to accept my desires to be a little diaper girl about 2 1/2 years ago I did some reading and discovered that this is how you are wired and however much you can try to control those desires they never actually go away. I therefore decided to accept myself and do what I enjoy doing. It's worth noting that there are plenty of people who are into this who have happy, healthy relationships, some who have children of their own and are fantastic parents. Because of the stigma surrounding these practices most people keep their mouth shut about participating in them and until the advent of the internet I guess people who weren't into any kind of "scene" felt alone and abnormal - I did - because there weren't message boards or other forums.
An AB by the name of "Bitter Gray" has set up a wonderful informational site for people who are into this. If you google "Bitter Gray's Den" it will come up.
