I actually first used a caution safeword in my previous relationship where I was the top. My bottom really liked me to dish it out on him but I was pretty green at giving out paddlings and was scared of hurting him. I surfed the net for ideas for scenes and for advice and found two very good websites run by professional mistresses: Mistress Lilith and Mistress Little Star. What I liked was that both of them had put a lot of thought and information into their websites by way of education, this included the idea of a caution word as well as a stop word. This worked out very well in my previous life as "Mistress" so I brought it with me to my this relationship where I am the bottom.
I'm surprised that the LGs you have played with aren't keen on "traffic signals". Who wants to break role? Not me. In fact daddy has even introduced sessions where he will "test" me on the safe words just as a daddy would telling his LG not to talk to strange men and to come straight home from work (which he also does). If I get them right he strokes my hair etc and I might even gt a cookie. As far as I am concerned the more we can do without breaking role the better. After all isn't the best bit when you're sobbing on daddy's knee leaning against his chest after a spanking knowing you're going to get bathed and diapered shortly?
