I know it’s my fault, but no one addressed or quite understood the question as I intended it, so I’ll guess the answer must essentially be “no”. My curiosity was about simultaneous undefined age roles, almost as improvisation, simply depending upon momentary events *within play* not because one is required by real life to come back to real life.
Here’s kind of an example. Disbelief is suspended when a play age 2 year old is able to communicate complex ideas to her Daddy, so sometimes she’s acting as if she’s actually 5 or 6, but inside she still feels as if she is 2.
So, is it necessary to lock into a specific age at all? I guess a better way to put the question is, do any little girls out there feel it is unnecessary to be defined by a specific play age? As in “I’m as old as the moment calls for, from 2 to 92...but through it all I’m still a little girl who loves my Daddy.”
