I probably would've failed the wrapper test in real life, and definitely would've it failed in a chat/IM.
Same goes for your second test there with communicating. I'm not a mind reader...though it is pretty safe to say we've all been guilty of imposing that test on someone else.
In the end, though, it doesn't do any good. If something is wrong you should say so, and not make the other person have to guess.
