As a young child it was not really a problem. I had been a late developer where toilet training was concerned any way and was only just out of nappies in time to start school. I was still in nappies at night until I was about 7 or 8 after that when no nappies would fit I was made to sleep in several pairs of pants in a vain attempt to keep the bed dry. The older I got the less sympathetic my parents were to my bedwetting. Often I slept in the same wet bed for several nights as they refused to change my bed believing that being uncomfortable would make me stop wetting. Gradually they stopped caring and if I wanted my bed changing I did it my self. Often I would come down in a morning and my mother would ask if my bed was wet to which I always said no, knowing full well my mother knew otherwise. I had started wetting on purpose by this time and found I enjoyed this. I got a lot of stick being a teenager wetting the bed most nights. God knows what they would have thought if they knew I was doing it on purpose. I remember coming home one day to find a plastic sheet on my bed but nothing was ever said about it. I took this to mean it was just accepted I was a bed wetter so I continued to wet when ever I felt like it and never made any effort to become dry at night.
