I've considered buying a terry-covered mattress protector because the plastic sheet I have now obviously doesn't absorb a thing. I don't have to wet much before the entire bed is absolutely soaked and I'm swimming in it. I enjoyed the puddle at first but when I want to wet during the night and then sleep in it, it doesn't work out so well. If I could, I would do away with the cover all together and just soak my mattress, but I've had to stop doing that since my mattress became very obviously stained - I don't want to make it worse and risk my friends seeing (or smelling) it.
It's a bit disappointing to hear the toweling isn't more absorbent. I probably would have gone out and bought one by now except that it could be problematic to clean. I live with my parents (still at university) so cleaning up has always been a problem.
