I actually like to wait as long as possible. I really like the faint odor of stale, but dry pee. As long as I can let them dry out pretty well when I leak. (for the most part I wear diapers so the sheets only get wet from leaks.) If they don't dry out right away, and they start to develop the ammonia smell, then I have to wash them regrettably.
