Prying eyes were sometimes relatives. Mom did not like anyone to know.I am sure more folks knew about it than I realized. I know my grandma
knew, cause I would stay at her place sometimes. She most likely spoke with my aunts. Diapers and plastic panties were most always hung to dry in the basement. I know the meter readers would have seen them. On occasion some of my young friends may have seen them. We would not usually play in the basement but some times they would follow me in to gets toys. No one ever mentioned the diapers. I know myself I was always on the lookout for diapers in others homes.
