John, my wife isn't a nurse. She's just a very good communicator and never met a stranger.
The rates we pay range from $12 to $50 per hour, depending on the babysitter, level of experience, my comfort level, etc. Infantilism is a relaxation technique for me, and each woman clearly understands that up front.
Interestingly, almost every sitter has loved the job! I've even had several refer us to other nurses when they were too busy, moved, etc.
I have sent roses to sitters on occasion...it makes quite an impression!
