Well, the obvious advice is don't use the lanolin based cream. Try something like Johnson's baby lotion if they sell that near you. Johnson's baby oil does the same thing by the way, it's the lotion that you want. Also, some plastic pants will go brittle more so than others, or more quickly. Maybe trying some of the lotion you use on some different types of pants from different places may help? My plastic pants have lasted very well, and if anything, have softened with use. I wash mine in the washing machine, on a 40C cycle, and that along with johnson's baby lotion has never done them any harm. My pants btw are from arizona healthcare in the uk, try googling "arizona healthcare" or something like that, as I can't remember the exact url off the top of my head.
