There were video games in 1978. The heyday of arcades had began 1 year earlier with the release of Space Invaders. I was in elementary school then and I spent lots of money in arcades. In fact I still do.
I am watching the movie "Summer of Sam" as I writhe this. What a cool 70's flashback moment!
