A: It's rare. So rare that even Gloria Brame doesn't talk about it in her doctoral writings even though watersports and scat play are covered in many human sexuality studies in depth. My guess is that panty-pooping fetishists are well less than 1% of the general western population.

A: Coprophilia and the panty-poop fetish have totally different motivations, although there may be some overlap between the two. The fetish mysophilia is a better fit for what many pants-poopers do, but even then if one wants a clinical description, motivation has to be taken into account. "Erotic encopresis" is probably the best term for what motivates a large number panty-pooping purists who "just do it" purely for the joy of pooping their pants.
Then there are the age regressionists, adult babies, and diaper lovers, who are yet another fetish set that has some overlap with pants-poopers. So to say this is one single fetish type is to overlook the nuances of the various people who engage in erotic clothes soiling.
A few years ago I had a conversation with a "committed coprophile" who enjoyed whole body smearing with his partner. While he had no inhibitions about hard scat play, he found the idea of pooping into clothing to be appalling. In stark contrast, I have no interest in poop unless it is sandwiched between fabric and skin.
Sometimes, panty-pooping is combined with a specific clothing fetish, such as an eroticization of jeans, jods, spandex shorts, specific types of underwear, diapers, or other items of unique interest to the specific person. Jods seem to be a special favorite among pants poopers, probably due to the way they fit and possibly due to the fabric they are made from. In my case I'm a crossdresser with a fetish for ballet clothes and love to do the deed while wearing a leotard over a pair of tights.
