it's not an addiction. Not everyone here is addicted to this. They might never quit, but that alone doesn't make it an addiction. It needs to be more continuous and needs to impair 'normal' social functioning. There are people here who fit this description, ie they poop themselves every time they need to poop so it's continuous. And it impairs normal social functioning because they will consistently choose pooping themselves in private over meeting work commitments or family engagements to a detrimental degree, to the point where it results in unemployment, divorce and estrangement etc. This is what you need to be considered addicted from a clinical point of view. But I agree, many of us are hooked on this, and the detrimental effects may occur in all cases to varying degrees, but where does one draw the line that devides normal from abnormal interference with social functioning? Sure, we might be closed off from people in our lives, but most people keep secrets. Pants pooping might affect some pooper's self esteems, but plenty of people who don't poop themselves have self esteem issues (and some poopers may have no apparent self esteem issues). Sure you might miss a game of catch with your kid to indulge in a bit of selfish pleasure, but that degree of selfishness is normal too.
