Have you got some? You could always try reverse psychology, ie when you're being naughty (such as wandering off or running away from Daddy, which are ideal excuses for him to put the reins on!) when he catches you make a big fuss about you're not going to let Daddy put the reins on you as you're a big girl now (or some such thing!) that way at least the poor guy actually knows thats what you want! You might find him more obliging then!
