I think there are two kinds of men who are attracted to this lifestyle; those that truly enjoy dominating a woman through exposing her vulnerability and those who can appreciate and treasure that vulnerability rather than use it as a short cut to feeling secure themselves. Naturally you want to aim for the latter group, and because these men truly want a friend and partner and not just some dress up doll to play with and manipulate, they also tend to appreciate the dominant side of her as well as the submissive side. ( I am speaking only from my own experience and not in reference to any present company)
I recognize quite clearly that my play self stuck at the age where I learned to not express any sort of vulnerability , in my past relationships I have been so overwhelmed by her that I have just given into her needs and her view of the world (if not always expressing her in actions) full tilt rather than tempering her expression or at least understanding that the adult me is not nearly as vulnerable as she is. I think once I get a stronger handle on that I won't feel the need to run away nearly so much.
