Okay, now you're changing the subject. We're not discussing "What's okay" -- we're discussing self-defining versus others defining us.
And L.E. wrote,
"And of course your position is paradoxical...you want to exclude everybody who wants to exclude anybody, and that includes you!"
I never mentioned inclusivity or exclusivity. See, again, you're way off track. Save your allegations of paradoxical thought for when its germaine to the discussion.
And L.E. wrote,

I know you were aiming at humor there, but when doing so, try to make your jokes accurate. I don't wear plastic pants. :)
Jocularity aside, that was a slap. Tacitly, you're saying that my ego is so large that I would consider myself the "fount of pontifical wisdom."
L.E., if you can't have a reasonable conversation without resorting to these sorts of ad hominem attacks, then don't engage. I've attacked your ideas, but not you personally. If you can't distinguish between the two, then don't count on me to respond.
Regarding the topic at hand, self-defining vs. others defining us -- I stand by my position. You've offered nothing in your latest missive to contradict my argument, though I invite you to improve upon that in future posts: sans the ad hominem barbs.
