I would think that the down side of a cotton covered plastic sheet would be that after you wet, you would have to take it off too?
With a plane plastic sheet, you just change the sheets and wipe the plastic down.
Having said that, friens of ours have two complete changes of bedding on their kids bed. If he wets, while he goes and takes off his pj's and has a shower, mum or dad just pulls the entire cotton covered plastic sheet, sheets and blankets off and drops them on the washing machine and under it is a complete ready made bed, complete with a second cotton covered plastic sheet. So I guess that is a way around it.
