I have traveled in Italy, France and Ireland extensively and in all three of these countries the beds were always protected by some type of plastic-lined mattress pad. They ranged from mid range hotels to Bed and Breakfasts. Nothin was ever said when I wet the bed. In the U.S. it doesn't seem to be as prevalent to protect the beds. I wonder why they do more so in Europe? Are they smarter or do people wet the bed more over there?
