It it easy to say something about accidents, but it is likely you didn't say that, and it sounds as if you really didn't have the opportunity.
Did she really go into a tyraid (sp) as soon as she saw them, with no thought of why you had them? Seems a little immature to me, or at the very least rather thoughtless.
I'm sorry you had to go through that - yes, I know it is hard (been there). But you will recover, and she will too.
