Absolutely, stress definitely can cause bedwetting, no matter how old you are; nor do I think it matters whether or not you have ever been a bedwetter in the past.
I have always had a bedwetting problem (not that I consider it a "problem" nowadays - I just don't care if I do it, and in fact quite enjoy it). I wet my bed every night well into my teenage years, and although I stopped doing it every night by the time I was about 17 or 18, it still happened from time to time, very randomly, and still does, and I'm approaching 40.
But there have been two occasions since my teens when I suffered extreme stress; once was when I was going through a particularly acrimonious divorce, and the other when I was involved in a road traffic accident, which was not my fault, but I was arrested and charged. Thankfully, I was eventually cleared of any blame.
Both of these events triggered frequent bedwetting; in the case of the RTA, I wet my bed every night for almost two months until things were eventually cleared up.
And I have a close friend, (who has never been a bedwetter) who had a period of bedwetting when she lost her driving license (and her job as a result) after a string of speeding offences.
So yes, stress can cause bedwetting, and I think it's probably more common than is though, because most people, I suspect, wouldn't admit it.
