We should, perhaps, love the sinner but hate the sin. I'm no expert grammarian, either, but I do feel (and pretty strongly) that if we tolerate too much slop in the language, especially from the younger set, then it eventually erodes the language and brings us a little closer to the Orwellian notion of eliminating ideas by eliminating the words needed to express them.
