My first wetting experience in bed, the one that got me started in this, was only a few years ago. I wet like three or four times, into an unprotected, and very expensive mattress. Hubby was furious with me.

He initially got a very heavy plastic sheet (painting tarp I think). We slept on that for a few months, then he found a waterproof mattress cover that felt just like a regular mattress (that's generally what hotels use on their beds). To that, I add a hospital style mattress pad and a couple of towels under the sheet on my side of the bed, and the cover seldom is affected. Laundry is reasonably easy that way.

I don't think it is the mattress that is important, it is the pee. I do not deny that wetting your mattress has certain effects that some like. For me, tanking up before bed, laying there, holding as hard as I can, waiting until it hurts, and then holding a little more, and a little more, and then, when my bladder is so painful I can't hold it further, and having a major gusher right there, that's about the ultimate. When I tank up, I generally have two of those gushers, and then pee five or six times more before getting up in the morning. I just collect the wet pad and towels for the wash, and let the sheet dry - until the next time.

And that might be tonight.
