Hi Deb-Long time since you posted. I was kind of like Steve. I was ALWAYS in diapers until I was about 10, so it was the status quo. When I was 10 (and I have an 2+ year older brother who also was a chronic bedwetter), my parents decided to let us both choose (mostly because my soon to be teen age brother was rebeling about being diapered), as long as we dealt with our own sheets, plastic pants, etc. Our beds had full length and width rubber sheets and after my brother shed his diapers and just wet his bed, I soon followed. My mother would change our sheets twice a week and if we "desired" any more wash we had to do it. We soon got into the routine of just wiping down our rubber sheets in the morning with a soapy towel and letting our sheets air out during the day. We generally still wore diapers and rubber pants if we traveled or visited relatives and our parents were pretty discrete about it, although I am sure all of my aunts and uncles and probably older cousins knew. Also, since many of my cousins my own age were also bedwetters more or less through junior high, I suspect many in the family suffered through some amount of distress and humiliaton growing up so there was very little teasing etc.
